SITA compost
« on: September 16, 2010, 13:13 »
After seeing an ad in the latest NECC mag for SITA compost I called them up for costs. SITA runs a number of tips (sorry, recycling centres). They use the green waste from gardens and turn it into compost in (i think she said) 8 weeks. Not heated, all natural. They then sell it for pick up at £12 per tonne or delivered in 15tonne tippers at 12/tonne plus delivery.

Seems very reasonable. Anyone tried before?

We get "soil improver" from our local tip....I mean recycling centre in bags for a couple of quid. I think you can get it in bulk but we don't need much. :)

yep - I've found it very useful. Different company here - http://www.countymulch.co.uk/site/. I have mulched my front garden with it a couple of times and had far less weeds. Lovely & black it was. Probably going to do it again this year as two jumbo bags was reasonably economical.
