Chicken in a box

Picking up four chickens on Sunday but we only have biggish boxes.

I have read it is better to have a smaller box to stop them getting thrown about, but is it ok to put two or more in a single box?

Journey will only be about 20-25 mins

We collected ours last sunday (three silkies) and I called into the local co-op where the young bloke on the till popped out the back and got a smallish box for me. It was perfect. I guess 1ft x 1.5ft and about 2/3 ft high. The breeder put some bedding in the bottom and cut a vent hole in each corner before taping them up.

They were absolutely fine.

My three hens ALL decided to sleep in a nestbox 12" square.

As long as the box is well ventilated but kept dark they will be ok for 30 mins in the car, as you say it will stop them rattling about.
