If they are sending them out already, then mine will have to be potted up until their permanent place is sorted  ::)

I am an absolute novice, however late last year I bought a strawberry plant in a pot and kept it inside an unheated potting shed then split it in two and planted it out in March this year.  We are still harvesting strawberries now. Not sure if this will help it's just my experience. Good luck and yumyummmmm :D

Wonder did Thompson and Morgan have to take on extra staff just to sort us lot out with our strawberries!? lol

Like you guys, will have to clear some space as I didn't realise that you couldn't plant strawberries where potatoes have just been... I had kept that patch free for my strawbs... oh well!

I read this somewhere too, can't think where or why. Still, my starwberry bed is being extended into the patch where potatoes were this year so they will have to like it or lump it!

And in responce to the OP. I would plant them up in small pots and keep them sheltered but outdoors throughout the winter.

Always thankful for advice!

Just got mine  :)  72 of them

and for the first time in my life I had a quick look at the instructions, and it says you shouldn't grow strawberries in a bed previously used for potatoes, for at least 5 years.

So, it's plan 'B'  :D....... the only problem is, I don't have a plan 'B'   :(

Do the instructions say why? I'm completely baffled by this one!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
