Caterpillar Help..
« on: August 31, 2010, 14:12 »
Hi all, I'm looking for a quick fix for my brassica's... I noticed last week that I had a number of green catipillars on my cabbages/brussles and after spending half an hour or so picking them off, I re-netted them hoping all would be ok.
I checked again last night and they are back!!... so I guess there have been some eggs I have missed and baby cats' are not deleoping into much bigger cats'.  >:( >:(
I have been extremely careful with my brassica's and they were netted with brand new debris netting, yet the little boogers have still managed to get in and do their dirty work...
Anyway, my question is... what can I use that will kill both cats' & eggs at the same time??

I can think of quite a few insect sprays, most of the inspect sprays at your garden centre will probably do the trick, however that isnt organic, so it depends if you are looking for an organic or unorganic treatment.
If you want to be happy for a short time - get drunk.

If you want to be happy for a long time - fall in love.

If you want to be happy forever - take up gardening!

To be honest Jamie, I'm looking at either option... any recommendations?

Did you sew up the eyelet holes in the netting? If not this will be where the butterflies are getting in. Either that, or they might be getting in underneath if the netting isn't secured all the way round  :)
Cheers, Comfortably Numb.

I'm just off down the greenhouse. I won't be long ..........................
