Tell me about it. I've given up this year trying to save my crops, they are eating everything. Doesn't matter how many I pick off. At least we have a healthy population of butterflies by us!  ::)

I've not a decent brassica on the plot - despite netting! And slug pellets...

I've been using debris netting tunnels since last year and have to say that my brassica's have been the cleanest , pest free and healthiest that I have ever grown.
Caterpillar free, pigeon free, and chemical free. What else could you wish for  :)

Use either Debris Netting or Enviromesh over your Brassicas. Butterflies can still lay eggs on the leaves if you use netting with larger holes in especially if the leaves come into contact with the netting. One word of warning - keep an eye out for Aphids as its a perfect breeding ground under the mesh i.e. warm and humid. One week the plants are fine the following week they can be covered in Aphids.

That's exactly what I found :( Plot neighbour used Harrods butterfly netting, and the hover flies and ladybirds can get through this, so she had very few aphid on her cabbages.
So maybe that is a better option

I agree -- well worth the money, as it lasts for years and years too  :D :D

I fortunately (touch wood) have had not one single caterpillar so far this year  :D (very small holes on the netting 5mm I believe) a few aphids but I shot them off with the hose and I have also had lots of help from lady birds this year I counted 9 on 1 plant last week!!
some people are like slinkys......they're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face as you push them down the stairs!!

Aphid free

Not that I've noticed  :)
A small amount of whitefly, but I don't worry too much about them anyway.
I've got swedes under debris net as well, and there is just very minimal flea beetle damage, but certainly not enough to worry about  :)
