To feed or to grow!!

We have 5 raised beds. I'm wanting to plant some winter produce, but my partner is adamant not to, as he says he wants to let them rest and cover them with manure. Are his ideas correct, or could we grow AND manure. Help! Could be a divorce pending, and we're not even married.

Onions from sets, shallots, leeks, broad beans, peas, all sorts of brassicas, various lettuces can be grown through the winter....so why waste the space?

If the manure is fully rotted; then mix it in and plant the beds up. If not, mix it in in the spring.

absolutely agree se no point in 'resting' beds just dig in manure in between harvest and next planting

no point in resting good soil, each bed can be used , but to save your marriage why not save 1/2 just to shut him up use 3 of the 5 beds ,

ps you got a spare bedroom , lol

Half and half would be good - only do it as a proper trial and compare the results next year.
