Oh, YUM!

I made my first ever batch of Blackberry and apple jam (the recipe on here) this evening and although it was still warm I couldn't help but try some on a slice of toast. It's gorgeous! And even better that all the fruit used was free from the local Devon countryside.

Stop gloating, all of you. Blackberry and apple is my favourite jam but we still have no ripe blackberries to speak of near me. There's the odd one or two, but only very small ones. Everything else is refusing to ripen.

I am only 20 miles from you and there are loads around the lanes here try over the water park or the lanes leading to it.

Well, we've got ripe ones now, cos it's a month later

I don't think they're very good this year, though. Every one I've tasted so far, picked from different places, has been kind of watery and tasteless. I don't know if it's because we've had so much rain this year.
