I enjoy a nice tasty Russet and they do store quite well so it gets my vote.

I like the red one too, in fact I'm looking for another apple to put in and Scrumptious fits the bill. Good choice coin

I think October is the month for apple festivals, if you can hang on till then and do a search for any apple days in your region, you'll get a really good idea of what grows well locally and what might be problematic - either from a cultivation or pollination point of view.

I missed the question about ones favourite apple so can i throw a spanner in the works and suggest Discovery. They are early to ripen sweet juicy and bright red I have one on my plot and I have to beat my fellow allotmenteers off with a stick when there ripe, which should be quite soon. Mind you they dont keep more than a couple of weeks so i guess i should share
