Dug up a load of Anyas - not as many as last year, as the blooming May frost 'nuked' 'em - despite this, I managed to unearth 9.2kg from 24 initial tubers. I like this variety. Not only do they taste good - these potatoes really store well ...... better luck next year!

The Lady Christl's keep coming. At this rate I'll never get around to the 2nd earlies.

2 roots - 6lb 10oz this morning, bear in mind these weren't planted until 2nd week in May. Makes you wonder why there's such a panic to plant in February!!

Scale: that's a dustbin lid.

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Which one do you think is spiked?

I can assure you there's not one hole in them, slug nor man made!

Are the later LC's as good as the earlier ones DD?
(I found with Charlottes that the longer they were in the ground the worse the flavour and texture.)

Will be growing LC's again next year but will try putting them in later than usual; they say that growing 'em quick and getting them out ASAP helps beat the potato eelworm, which sounds logical to me.

They've not really got the "new" taste now if steamed, BUT - they've making good bakers!

LC's for us next year too definitely! And many more of them as we have a new potato planting scheme planned.

Sorry DD. For some reason, the photo has come up bigger this time. And I can quite clearly see that not a one is spiked. You can come and lift my potatoes any time!

the hot spell (and not being around to water) spelled disaster for our spuds. We grew roosters, which i've not seen mentioned yet and are the king of potatoes as far as i'm concerned, but they didn't far well left to their own dry devices. Not many, small spuds but there's still a stand of PFAs to hope for.

As they are a maincrop spud, it may be a bit early to mention Roosters. Mine are still growing away merrily, although I was a bit late getting them in.

First earlies Swift were rubbish.  Second earlies I have been lifting a plant at a time sa that is enough for a family of 5 and potato salad for my work lunch.  I have Valour main crop which if halum growth is anything to go by should produce tons of spuds.  I am loosing about 3 or 4 spuds to slugs but that is the price isn't it?
Time waits for no man and I can't wait for growth.

Lady Christil - brilliant
Kestral - brilliant
Accord - not to bad

I ordered some spuds from, I think, T&M, not sure of their name, but they have a blue skin, and I tried them tonight (thankfully, I put them in with Kestral), and all I got were skins, the spuds themselves, had dissolved
