[Allotment Al]

This may seem an odd question but i planted some courgette plants expecting them to be green , but they seem to have turned out yellow . I was under the impression courgettes were green lol . i gor the plant from a nursery . Have they been mis-labeled ? or can you get yellow courgettes . If this is correct they are getting quite big . when is the best time to pick them . any help would be most appreciated

You can get yellow ones and the best time to pick them is when they are a size you want!

The yellow ones do taste different - my family likes them better.

You can get courgettes that are stripy like marrows too just to add to the fun.

I think I prefer yellow courgettes on the whole, although I grow both.

They are a bit more solid than green ones, which are a more watery when cooked.

Yellow ones play a bit fairer than green ones aswell,  ........... as in, you can leave a yellow one on the plant and it will be acceptabley (sp) bigger the next day whereas the green one you left on will be trying to turn onto a marrow as soon as you look away !!!
