Scotch egg help please
« on: July 28, 2010, 21:56 »
Can I cook scotch eggs in the oven as I do not have a deep fat fryer? If so what gas mark and for how long?

I've tried cooking them in the oven but they tend to split and so the exposed egg can get a bit hard.  They still taste ok though.    About gas mark 5 for 20 minutes or so.

Perhaps someone else knows the secret that will prevent the sausage meat splitting.  I'd love to know  :)

I have cooked the scotch eggs in oil in a frying pan to seal the outside then cooked them in the oven 200 for about 15- 20 minutes until brown and they have tasted and looked fine
