There are a few products you can use, i was using the johnsons extra spray, its very good but you have to do them 7 days after to catch any eggs,  now im using frontline, you can get the spray or the drops from the vets,  i use the drops as ive only 3 girlies, couple of drops to the back of the neck.   Nickyx
4 girlies,  Nessa, Pamela, Stacey and Tina

We used Gold Label Get Rid which is organic and does the job perfectly :)

For Frontline, which version do you use (cat / dog version, or does it make no difference) and how much do you use and how often does it need to be applied? We've got 11 chickens and 6 6-week old chicks (still with the mum) - so trying to work out how much would be appropriate to buy?

Will it also control red mite?

My chickens have red mite & lice (not the mum and chicks though luckily), I'm using diatom at the moment which is working for the red mite but not the lice.

I use the frontline spray (prescribed by my vet as it isn't licensed for poultry), you give each chicken just a quick squirt on their back between their shoulder blades - this way they can't reach it when they preen. Make sure you part the feathers when you spray it.
As for red mite you need to use something like poultry shield in the coup and make sure you spray it into all the nooks and crannies. You will probably have to repeat the poultry shield after a week and even another week after that  until you are clear.
Staffies are softer than you think.
