Hi all,
I have 3 hens which arrived in April. I would like another 2 but not until I have more experience so probably next year. I'm not sure I could cope with dispatching boys yet so don't want to go down egg route at present. Is it possible to buy day old chicks (? pure breeds) that have been sexed and introduce them to a broody??

If you went for a day old cream legbar the breeder should be able to autosex for you, vent sexing with chicks is hard so I would go down the autosexing breed route. If cream legbars you also get lovely blue eggs

ooh, that sounds lovely. Should I have a heat lamp in case she rejects them?

yes you will need a back up plan - not all broodies take to other chicks, I was lucky mine took to 9 abandoned chicks
