A setback
« on: July 24, 2010, 18:37 »
my dad had an accident by the end of last month and was critical for more than two weeks. had to visit him in india and attend him at hospital. Everything is ok and he is back physically but recovering from serious heand injury with memory loss.
came back this afternoon and after 10 hours flight, driving and travel went straight to the plot to see the plot look like a warzone.
1. brocolli and caulis has gone to flower. brocs look beautiful with lots of bees.
2. second earlies are gone (dont know what happened to plants... it is bare land there) furtled to find potatoes underneath. there are some.
3. Main desirees have already flopped. have to check underneath.
4. courgettes have gone to marrow and marrows have gone to massives.
5. sister planting (of sweetcorns) bottlegourd creepers have taken over the whole plot
6. half of the winter onions kept in the plot for drying are missing.
7. cues in the manure mound are covered with weeds and died.
8. peas have dried and died.

But hay happy news!
Brought my dad from death's mouth and my wife is 7 weeks pregnent
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

Good to hear your family OK. You still have plenty of time to plant crops for the autumn and winter. Hope all goes well with you.

sorry to hear about your dad's ill health and hope you can get on top of the veg problems soon, I once left my mum in charge while I went on holiday and came back to a similar sight- amazing how quickly things can deteriorate.  I am sure your wife will appreciate the lovely fresh veg during her pregnancy

Family is way more important than your allotment so well done helping him recover.

Fantastic news about the pregnancy....

All the very best in all cases for the future. I'm sure you will take back your control of your allotment
Good Luck x

Welcome back Prakash and I hope your dad makes a complete recovery soon.  You can replant a plot, but you can't replant family.

Welcome back Prakash, we were wondering what had happened to you!

Shame about the veg, but I'm sure you can rescue some of it and also make all sorts of interesting dishes from the marrows at least!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Vegetables eh?

You sow some seeds and then spend weeks waiting for signs of life then you turn your back for 5 minutes and they've grown, fruited and gone to seed before you know it!!!  ;)

Glad to hear your Dad's on the mend and big congrats to you and your wife on your happy news  :)
