Poor Monty, it never rains but it pours!
« on: July 23, 2010, 16:42 »
My boy has been back with his girlfriends for about a week now, he still takes it easy, but he's enjoying life again. Yesterday I noticed that he was a bit unsteady on his feet, but thought it was all the lying about he does during the day. However this morning I noticed that his little toe seems to be a bit out of shape and swollen. Im wondering if he hurt it jumping down from the nesting boxes where he sleeps. The boxes are about 18" off the floor, but he is a great big lump of a bird.
Its not affected his eating or drinking or his "eye for the ladies", if you get my drift, so do you think I should just leave it? I am wondering if he's in a bit of pain, as I havent heard him cockle today.

Thanks, Mary.

give him a ramp to get upto and down from his perch, also keep an eye on his swelling and make sure that it isn't bumblefoot  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.
