The fact this post has come to light again is VERY GOOD!
I didn't have bird trouble with my fruit before but I've got new blueberries AND blackbirds so if the bushes fruit this year I now know to net early!!

Ha ha ha, the offending blackbird has probably gone to the great blueberry bush in the sky by now  

And as it did it was heard to be singing " I found my thrill on blueberry hill"

or was it Trill in this case

Thankfully we don't get many blackbirds around here, just robins, grackles and starlings  Normally I love robins but they've turned into terrible fruit thieves.

My own blueberries are only just at the early bud stage (under the snow) so I've still time to set up netting as this will be a good fruiting year.
