Has anyone done potato wine?
« on: July 18, 2010, 01:19 »
I tried making potato wine as a student about 20 years ago as the book said it would be strong and cheap, I made 1 gallon and it didn't make bottling as it was semi sparking and delicious so it got finished off between a few of us there and then!!

I think it was a fluke but is it worth trying it again?

It must be a student thing!  I made it as well and remember that it was very, very strong and again didn't last long when opened at a party.  Probably would be worth making if you've got the equipment.

No.  Just ordinary wine using potatoes.  I think the Irish beverage is distilled using a still. Potato wine done my way doesn't make you blind!!
