When will she lay again???
« on: July 16, 2010, 16:21 »
Rosie had been broody for around 4 weeks (I hadn't let her sit on any eggs) and for the past week has been going back to normal.

When will she start to lay eggs again?  She is a pekin bantam and is just over 3 years old, but was laying eggs before she became broody.
Her sister Albertine is a mum of 2 chicks at the moment, but Albertine was laying eggs too before she became broody.
The 3 other hens (we have 20 chickens altogether, but these 5 are the eldest) who are just over 3 years old, have more or less reached 'menopause'.
Maybe Rosie won't lay again because of her age and the break from laying she's had?

Thank you  :)

Mine who went broody for the first time and didn't sit on any eggs started laying about a week after she returned to normal :)
2 Springer Spaniels, 1 Speckled Sussex,  1 Cuckoo Maran, 1 Light Sussex, 1 Welsummer, 2 Barnvelders and 2 silver Pencil Wyandotes.

If anyone wondered whether Rosie would ever lay again, she laid her first egg after being broody on the 18th July  :).
