As in Kristens reply use the smaller sets  ???. If you use the bigger ones (I do) then the onion may have registered as having grown for a year, so the year you plant it is the second year, as far as the onion is concerned, so it tries to flower.  :ohmy:

Have to say that I still try to pick out the bigger ones, so I don't follow my own advice. probably too conditioned to planting the bigger healthier ones.  :unsure:

This years it is going to be seed, already have them, overwintering ones have just gone in.

We are now eating some of our Onions and managed to learn how to tie them together to make a pretty bunch!

They're quite strong 'un's though make me cry!  :(
I would never belong to a club that would have me as a member :-D

For me its been a cracking year for ye eld alliums, very very strong, even make me cry, and no one goes within 30 feet of the kitchen when I am cutting them.
