And then there was one....

Down  to my last ex-bat now.  Today I lost Oven-Ready, she had egg peritonitis and went from running around eating and drinking yesterday to being unable to walk today.  I tok her to the vet and we decided she was suffering so the deed was done.   :(  They were about 4 years old (give or take, I'd had them 2 years.

Well done you....giving her a good life, and knowing when to let her go, to give her a good death too. Bless you both. HUGS xxxx

In my opinion, having any pet eauthanised is the last act of kindness anyone can do for their pet who is suffering.  I'm sorry to hear off your loss but you have done the right thing under the circumstances. x

Sad when it comes to the end,  especially if you had nursed her back from a thread bare ex-bat to a happy chuck.  Oven-Ready had 2 lovely years and you made sure she did not suffer so you really could not have done any more.

Thank you all.  I need to get the allotment and chook housing sorted and then I will sign up for some more ex batts and let a few more girls have a taste of real chicken life.
