mixed corn is not suitable as the main part of their diet, really it should only be given as a treat. The hens need far more vitamins and minerals that is available in their layers pellets or mash.
Staffies are softer than you think.

My girls wont eat pellets either and prefer mash, can you give this dry or do you have to soak it?

They love it thrown on the ground so they can rummage..

You don't need to soak it :)
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!

mine prefer layers mash, or pellets soaked a bit, they seem to be too hard, but they now have both, and love them

I got 3 chickens 2 weeks ago and posted the same problem on Thursday and got some helpful advice, but, in desperation, l discovered yesterday that soaking the pellets in warm water and adding a small amount of corn and wheat mix worked a treat.  Yesterday and today they've worked their way through a big bowl of this porridge - given first thing in the morning.  So they've earned a treat today and had half a lettuce hung up to peck at.  I am so relieved!!  I now just need to find a better 'off the ground' container that they don't tread in!  Any ideas?? Looks like my smart new suspended feeder for the rejected dry pellets is redundant!

try putting mash in the suspended feeder, we do, and put the pellets soaked in a bit of marmite water in a couple of plastic dog bowls.
