Would someone clarify the manure situation with regard to brassicas please?

When the potatoes come out we want to manure the ground (with fresh-ish horse manure) and lightly dig in, then leave unplanted until next year.  Can we then plant winter 2010/11 crop of brassicas in that ground?

Sorry I've put this in the wrong place, would you move it for me please?

In a four-year rotation, spuds are year one with all the lovely manure and brassicas are year three, two years away from the fresh manure. That said, the guy a few plots along grew monster cabbages last year on ground that had well-rotted manure in it.

Livinhope, I wouldn't bother digging the manure in, even lightly. The fresh nature of it will keep your weeds under control and the worms will do the digging for you in readiness for next year  :D

Back to the drawing board.  I've got rather confused with what I can and can't plant in freshly manured ground.  As it has been neglected for a couple of years I wanted to feed it as much as possible, but I now have to work our where I can plant the root crops next year.  I shall be back to the compost and Growmore.  Hey ho.
