We have a 20yr old Golden King female holly tree that usually loses some of its leaves in early summer, but this year it's hardly got any now! Many that fell off had a brown blotch on them but the rest of the leaf looked fine. Berries are forming but I can't see any leaf buds at the moment unless they are right by where the berries are. Help from you please!

My suspicion is that it's simply very dry.  Not sure whether a general feed at this stage would be a good idea - I don't know a lot about gardens!

I wish mine would lose their leaves. To keep my holly hedges clipped I have to climb a ladder and let it lean into the bush. I always end up with a mass of little punctures .

Incidentally, I have never before seen such a mass of berries as there is this year. I clipped off 2 feet of growth but there are still berries all over the surface.
