pink fir apple spuds
« on: July 03, 2010, 15:47 »
I planted some pink fir apple spuds in bags in mid march and the foliage is like a triffid and they are flwering. Ive noticed this morning that the foliage is starting to topple over and i imagine they will start to die off now so how long before they will be ready and should i try to support the stems if they are going to be a while yet? Ive had a little furtle and only pulled out a couple of egg size ones.

thanks
R.I.P Bobby Smiler Smith......love you always little fella.

PFA are main crop spuds.

They'll be ready when the foliage dies down.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Are you sure they are fir apple ? I have never seen an egg sized one unless it is a piece broken off , thumb size or hand size yes. If it is egg shaped you could have your rows mixed up.
As said above it`s a bit early for PFA.

maybe not egg "shaped" but about the length of an egg or thumb but a lot smaller than they should be anyway. I will leave them to die down and give them plenty water and some feed.

cheers

My Pfa are fantastic this yr  :)  the tops havent started to die yet but ive pulled a few and the crop is already lots/huge and very tasty. I find them good things to give away as not many ppl heard of them and the feedback from the eating is amazing  :D

Im growing so many more next yr!
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.
