Hi there, I splashed out last year as I kept burning the jam or making a general mess of it, I love it! Got it out lat week and made strawb, strawb & rhubarb, blueberry, apricot and nectarine! Once you get the hang of it it's easy. Only frustration is it only does 1 kilo max. Stll I love it, try the rice pudding, it's amazing, in only about 20mins, great to have with the jam. Enjoy  :D

I usually make loads of jams and chutneys in a big maslin pan and completely forgot that my breadmaker also does jam.  I can't wait to go and give it a go now. Thanks for reminding me!

Fortunatey I have no problems with the 1kg limit as I am by myself, and I'm only using fruit from my garden :)

It is wonderful though, and I now have 2 jars of strawberry jam and 4 jars of summer fruit jelly on my pantry :)

There is only the tefal one, as far as I'm aware as in Vals link, if you google it sometimes you can get it a bit cheaper or on offer. It is expensive but for me worth the expense, as long as I use it :)

Heavens, making jam yourself isn't cheap anyway just a whole lot better and you would need to make a heck of a lot of jam to justify that price.

I haven't got one or particularly want one! There's a jam making facility on our bread maker but I've never used that either. Think it takes the fun out of jam making and traditional methods allow for more experimentation and offer greater control in my opinion.

I must admit I love making jam and chutney the traditional way and find it very therapeutic but time consuming.  Sometimes though I have some fruit that needs to be used quickly and I usually end up throwing it in the freezer as I don't have the time to use it.  I've never thought to throw it in the breadmaker and make a quick jar or two of jam but I am definitely going to try it now.  If it turns out ok I may well do it again but not as a replacement for the traditional jam days that I have but just a way of using the fruit quickly if needed.
Has anyone tried making it in a breadmaker before?  Any tips? Or shall I just continue to freeze until I have more time or enough fruit to warrant a day of jam?

Must admit that I haven't been brave enough! I just freeze until I have enough, or the inclination, to make jam using traditional methods.

Hi I make chutney in my slow cooker, takes about 24 hours, no worries about burning I just leave it to its self.

I put it in hot though to get it started.

I use a preserving pan for jam though or a lrg saucpan for small amounts

Never, ever thought of using the slow cooker.  I would imagine the flavours would be quite intense and it would produce a smashing end product.  Must try it.
