spring/bunching onions

Look at these pityful bunching onions. I cant for the life of me grow anything like decent bunching or spring onions. Is there a tried and trusted feed or soil preparation method? Thanks :D

They look OK to me. Just keep on watering them and wait a little longer. Start pulling some when they are quite small and then they will not get too big before you finish them.

Any liquid fee will boost them but personally I do not like to put fertilizer on any crop near to harvest that I am going to eat.

There's a few on this forum would be very happy with onions like that! Don't know what you're worrying about!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

They look really good. Pick the bigger ones, and the smaller ones will grow on.

You're growing them as individual plants. Is it that you were expecting them to multiply and grow like shallots? (what I mean is , when you plant one shallot set, and you get a dozen shallots growing together?).

I don't think spring onions grow like that. I sow mine as a pinch of seeds in a pot, then as they grow, plant them out as a group/bunch.

Is that what you mean?

Those springo's are doing just fine.  Some varieties don't bulb as much as say White Lisbon.  I grew some once "Ramrod" and they didn't bulb much.

I have some winter ones I did last Early September and they have only just started ging to seed the last three weeks.  So don't forget to keep doing some or I should say successional sowing but thats too much of a mouthful.
