Garlic
« on: July 02, 2010, 11:13 »
Hi,

I think my garlic is ready to pull and I wondered what my next steps are? I know it needs to be dried out how long for and where? I was going to put it in my utility will this be ok? Also how long will it store for and what is the best way to store it?

I have one other question, what size should my pea pods be before I pick them?

Many thanks

Andy

I pulled my first lot this week (Albigensian).

Left them n the sun for about 3 or 4 days, peeled off the the dirty outer skins to reveal the white skins underneath. I was going to attempt to platt them but decided to just bind the stems together with garden twine, now hanging in the kitchen.

Peas: Pick one of your larger pods and have a look. If the contents appear too small, pop them in your mouth and enjoy and leave the rest a bit longer if you can resist having just one more pod to be sure. I would choose to harvest slightly early and have smaller but very sweet peas than leave them just too long and them be slightly hard and floury.
