Incredible egg!!!!

Incredible egg!!!!

I've just popped down to the chickens and found an incredibly large egg.

Diameter: 7 inches
Length: 4.5 inches
Weight: 6oz

I'm 99.9% sure it was laid by one of our black rhodes. I've 5 black rhodes and they've always laid big eggs, but this one beats them all!!

Wow.  6 oz is what - about 150grams?  I would say that is a record.  How about a piccy of it?  I can't remember how heavy the one was in the paper not long ago but yours would be up there with a chance of being the heaviest :D

It weighed in at 200g! Ouch double ouch.  Apparently an average hens egg weighs about 62g.

It is a biggie, but it doesn't look as big in the photo as it actually is  ::) :). The other eggs in the box weigh 2-3oz

This may answer the previously posted question of why chickens call after laying eggs...
If I'd have laid that I'd have sworn and cursed a fair bit!!!  :D
