broad beans

My broad bean plants are about 3 ft high now with lots of flowers but no sign of any pods developing, should I pinch out the tops? Have noticed some black fly, also ants, will the ants eat the black fly or do I need to try and get rid of both, don't really want to use chemicals.

The ants farm the blackfly for their milky secretions, they don't eat them.

Pinch the tops out.

The blackfly will colonise round the tender new shoots so by nipping off the tops you'll remove their easily accessible food supply.  With no blackfly around the ants will simply move on somewhere else  ;)
