Peas, plant now should be ready August time.  Rabbits can be a total pain despite the fact that I love rabbits.  It would be worth investing in wire netting which does need to be buried.  It may not be too late for a few french beans and personally I wouldn't be beyond trying a wigwam of runners, chit them in the greenhouse or a window sill.  You didn't mention radishes.  Go for it!!!!!!!!!

Why don't you have a look round your local garden centre Homebase or B&Q see if they are flogging off any pots of toms etc.  It's all worth a try to give you encouragement for next year.

Hiya, its my first try at growing veggies too, only 2wks in.  I've found alot of nurseries/garden centres have really reduced their prices this week, I got a pot of peppers, some chilli's & an aubergine plant all for £1.20 yesterday.  I figure for that price they were worth a shot, they were lovely, healthy plants. Oh & 2 huge courgette plants at the weekend for £1

New to gardening & growing my own, its a very steep learning curve!

I don't think you've anything to worry about.  Keep at it and if you get any problems or have any queries someone on here will have the answer.

I wouldn't expect peas sown now to be ready for picking in 2 moths time, more likely September.

Problem with sowing now is that they are more likely to get mildew. I've sown in June and got plants 6" high with furry peas on, but also have had sucess. It's pot luck, so don't be too disappointed if they don't turn out.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

This was brought up a little while ago and the general consensus was that it was probably sparrows.  Try netting them until they are at least a foot high.

It would be September before peas were ready, for some reason I'm still in May.
