Gardening Competition
« on: June 15, 2010, 22:22 »
Those of you who remember this time last year might recall that I entered the local garden competition and won a runner's up prize of £50 garden centre vouchers and a book.  Well, it is that time of year again and this year I am entering the best small front garden and the best allotment too.

Front garden, which is still following the square foot approach:

There is still some work to do here but am waiting for the plants to grow so that I can move the prickly sticks off which deter the cats!

Photos of allotment plots 30/34:

This is the view of plot 30 where the chickens are.

Plot 34 which was our first plot.  34/30 are connected diagonally and we have a pond/table/chairs in the middle part which you might just be able to see.

Mavis the good luck charm on plot 34 guarding the strawberries.

Wish me luck, will find out in about a month if they wan't to come and view the plot/garden after seeing the photos I have sent in.

That's amazing - if my allotment looked like that I'd move my house there and have it as a garden :)

What a lot of work - well done

You are right Harry, but that is how I like it!  I like to be able to walk comfortably around the plot and see my beds from all angles I want to.  Just how I like it but realise this has consequences for the amount of space available.  Mind you, raised beds allow a tighter spacing so it is swings and roundabouts to a certain extent.

I wasn't trying to be critical it does look very nice compared to mine but i'm just beginning and at the planning stage. Do you have two fullsize allotments because mines only half a plot and i have to utilise every corner. :D :D :nowink:
