Late Flowering Clematis
« on: June 15, 2010, 13:45 »
Hello,
Can anybody please recommend a late flowering clematis? One which I can prune each year to just above the ground to enable me to repaint the wooden fence the clematis will hopefully use to grow up on.
I keep going back to the variety Princess Diana. But, still unsure? Any advice much appreciated.
Regards,

I think there is one called the President which has large, deep purple flowers later on. Having said that, any clematis from group 2 needs pruning down to about a foot in spring so they can send up new shoots that flower in early summer and again in autumn so they should be ok too. Have a look at labels of olants in the garden centres or Wilko or Google it.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
