Monarda question
« on: June 12, 2010, 10:27 »
I have grown some Monarda from seed. They are still in their pot and look very healthy and are about 12inc in height. Can I plant them out this year? and will they flower?

I would plant them out, they are pretty tough plants.  They are in flower now, but I think yours will flower this year just a bit later.  They will make nice big plants for next year :)

Thanks Spana. I did buy some last year and they developed rust quite badly. Is there a way of avoiding it. And where am I best planting direct in the sun or part shade.

Rust is very hard to avoid. Try to choose a spot where nothing contacted rust before and that should help. Monardas prefer full sun, and give them room as they'll slowly spread by roots as well.
