I have seen that T&M sell grape plants, I didnt realise that these can be grown in england ::) Do they need any special requirments or anything and are they like a bush or do they climb? I do like the sound of growing grapes :)

Grapes are vines, so they climb :) I think you need to pick the variety carefully if you are growing outside but we have a couple that are in the garden all year around. I'm hoping for grapes this year there are loads of bunches of buds so fingers crossed :)

Oh yes Jamie you can certainly grow grapes in this country, in fact there are quite a number of productive vineyards here now.

We used to grow them in Essex on a sunny fence and protected from the wind.  It used to get laden down with grapes each year.  Don't know which variety it was though.

Most vineyards grow them along wires like you would do for blackberries, and so they keep them at bush height. Properly trained, the new growth doesn't extend very far, so they are kept fairly bushy. In a greenhouse they are usually allowed to grow taller if space permits. There is a lovely huge one at Hampton Court Palace

I've inherited three on  my allotment, 2 are in the greenhouse, 1 white & 1 red, the red has huge bunches starting to form, then there is a huge one outside, no sign of grapes yet but its a lovely big bushy looking thing
New to gardening & growing my own, its a very steep learning curve!

Hi we bought a small grape plant from a local shop about 2 years ago, and have it growing on our allotment. It didn't do much last year, we only had a handful, but hopefully we are going to have a nice crop this year. We have trained it along a trellis on the border of our plot and, even despite the wind-beating it has received, it has recovered well.
