Sounds interesting....  ;)

I have only used it once as it seemed quite expensive when I can manage without it but...

Come on, spills the beans, where's your £9 a 100 litre bag from?  ???

hi from a company called Colton they make sand and cement bags that you get from diy shops and other things for the diy trade and that is where I get my vermiculite from for only £9 a bag. I have a black rubbish bin that I keep mine in as you get loads for you 100 ltrs.

So... have you had good success with the smaller size stuff?

I have a feeling there's a thread discussing the virtues of *Vermiculite on here somewhere.

(I'm not sure I could spell *it last time either  ::) )

I have had better success with the smaller stuff that the bigger stuff you can get from the likes of wilkos. at the start of the season I was using it every day nearly with everything I was sowing via plug trays  I have just been sowing some stuff today and have used the stuff agine today I just need to now go and buy a new bag as I’m almost out of it   :)

I use vermiculite or perlite from Wilko to bulk out my compost and also to add drainage and help with water retention too. You do get smaller, powdery stuff at the bottom of the bag, but I have always found it ok, but I don't use it in very small plug trays, only when potting on.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I tend to grow most seed in plug trays as you are not damaging the roots when potting them on compared to when you sow in seed trays.

Second row of links underneath the banner at the top of the page - on the left you'll see Forum Home.  Click on that.

This reveals the list of forums.

The first set of forums is headed Welcome.  The second set of forums is headed Growing.  "Growing Stickies" is the second one down - click on that link and it takes you to the list of individual threads.
