Not laughing - we don't do that to newbies! You should have some small leaves growing from the main stem - these will produce bigger leaves further up the stem as they grow. It will be a while yet but you will eventually see more curled-up leaves in the centre - this will be your cabbage forming. Hope you planted them deeply up to their first leaves and also really firmed them in very hard as you should do with all brassicas.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

ok thanks for that. I will go and add some more soil and press it down more. Ive not got high hopes. Not really got much of a clue what im doing. So do cabbages grow above the ground? Sorry if thats a stupid question. And when do i put them in their final pot? Thanks.

Yes, cabbages grow above ground, at the top of the stem, but I think they really need to be in the ground, not pots, unless they are really, really big.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

lol. It would mean sitting and waiting for them. They always seem to come when no-ones looking.

k4t1e195 :

They are sneaky, rather like my doves and pidgeon this year.

Gardening can put you "on to" lots of vegetables but put you "off of" some of its predators. I swear, after gardening in the U.K. I'll never have escargot again.  :tongue2:

i tried to grow strawberries last year but as soon as they grew the slugs would eat them. Some one told me to put the pots on stones because they wont go our stones. Is this true?

i put old plactic bottles with the bottoms cut off over the young plants until they have grown, then I cover them with netting supported by canes and build-a-balls.

we're not allowed guns anymore as someone complained when 3 rabbits were shot   :(... nothing better than fresh rabbit stew with fresh ingredients  ;)
