Spray the entrance with copious amounts of wasp killing foam then the wasps take the stuff into the nest and the rest die. Well that's the theory anyway, only we've sprayed ours 3 times now to no avail. It keeps raining and washing the foam away, mines is in an awkward place and I can't just cover the entrance. Today I am going to build a mound of earth up to the entrance, some sort of roof to keep the foam dry and then this evening I will use another whole can of the spray foam. It's either I get them out of here or I am moving out, wasps freak me out a bit!

When i took the allotment the compost bin was covered with some old carpet that i kept meaning to throw away the nest is stuck to the underside of the carpet so i supose i could spray it and then cover it again. Where do you get the spray from B&Q

Seen the Rentokil version at my local Tesco (£2.99 if I remember correctly)

We've just discovered one in our new blue tit nesting box....would Deltamethrin suffice in this case?.....

if they're only little nests I'd just knock them off with a spade and then leave then exposed, wasps don't usually nest in the open.... don't suppose any of us would if our houses were made of paper.

There must be an entrance where they come in and out. The spray is a bit like silly string. I have used it under the eaves of my house very effectively. Do it at dusk when most of the wasps are inside. Beware because they always leave a few sentries on guard.

If the hole is easy to get at a cheaper alternative is a powder to tip round it

Please be careful - many people suffer an extreme reaction to wasp stings even on the very first one. My wife was stung and I carried her into our local A&E unconscious, she recovered and left hospital two days later and now carries an epipen at all times. Two days later a local farmer died after a series of wasp stings when one of his cattle kicked over a nest. He was working alone and was found dead next day.
Please be careful

Yes Richard you're right, normally I work alone on the allotment but my wife comes with me when dealing with the wasp nest. :(
