Potato Plants
« on: June 06, 2010, 12:56 »
Hi All

I've started harvesting some potatoes :D however Ijust wondered where should I put the plant can it be composted as long as its healthy or should it be removed from the plot completely??

Thanks

Personally I'd bin them (council composting bin if available).

Although they probably have not got blight at this time of year they might have picked up eelworm or a similar undesirable problem which you don't want to be recycling via your compost heap.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

2 months is not long enough to form anything yet IMO ::)
3 months....if they were earlies ?....  you should have a few small ones. So variety and planting date make an awful lot of difference to results.
