Broody Cockerel
« on: June 05, 2010, 13:18 »
One of my Cocks decided he would have a go at hatching an egg today

I heard a lot of commotion going on in the coop, all the chicks were rosey like mad, and one of my cockerels was in the nesting box, sitting on an egg

I sat for a while watching him tossing straw either side of himself, whilst the hens screamed at him

I went for my camera, and he was still sitting on it right up until he saw the camera, then he hopped off just befor I could snap him

Spider :)

I used to occasionally find my old bantie cock sitting in a nestbox.  Usually after an OMG where's Tweety mad search  ::)  I'd open the house up just in case he was collapsed in a heap at the back and find him sitting in the nest box looking quite at home. I think he was just old and rickerty and liked a little sit down on his own for a snooze.

Don't think he ever dared actually go near an egg mind - he was smaller than the girls so he minded his Ps and Qs

::) One of my cockerels likes to sit beside his wife while she lays, but he has never actually sat on egg.
