Something is eating my Maris Peer potato plants.

Please help if anyone can identify the photo for me.......

Looks like some kind of caterpillar to me.. my first few months with the allotment so no real experience

I'm guessing the larvae of most likely a moth, but I've not located a pic yet for identification. It's the first time I've heard of one eating spuds as these are the common potato pests, along with slugs:

Photographed it then squashed it.  Moth seems quite likely as I've seen some hovering around, I'll try my moth book.

Thanks for the help, I'll keep picking them off!
