Cambridge Favourite fruiting period
« on: June 02, 2010, 23:56 »
My Cambridge favourite strawbs don't have many fruit on them (4-8 per plant). When I planted them as potted plants (not bare rooted) last Aug/September they were still in flower although I didn't let them set fruit. The plants wintered well, are in the best 'site' on the plot, and are very healthy. They've been looked after as per RHS textbook guidelines with respect to planting/soil prep/weeding/fertiliser/strawing down etc.

Is this all I'm going to get as a harvest, or will they flower again/continue flowering? Presumably I'll get a better crop next year?

Regards,

SS

PS - the raspberries are amazing, absolutely festooned with bees, flowers, and small berries.
