chicken over bite

do chickens get over bite and is it ok. I ask cos 4 of my five the upper beak is smaller than the lower one. In the 5th the upper beak is huge and she seems to be struggling to eat.

Any help greatfuly received over protectie mum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is possible to trim a chickens beak to help it eat better. Proper dog nail clippers can be used I think, but just take a little off at a tome. The beak will continue to grow (like our nails) so regular checks and trims will be needed  :)

Normally the chickens top beak is longer than the bottom one.  There should be a little bit of overhang all the way around the beak.  If it gets excessive you can file it down with a finger wrapped in fine grained sand paper, or if it is very bad, you can trim them with dog nail clippers.

If a chicken has been debeaked, usually the top beak is significantly shorter (i.e. noticably) than the bottom beak and is often blunt (debeaking is not often seen outside of battery farmed hens nowadays)

I to have a chicken with a slightly shorther top beak, will it grow back?

some are clipped by the breeders to help stop feather pecking. if done properly it shouldn't grow back (my rescue girls all have theirs done) but if not clipped too short then they will grow back.
