Well 2 months on and Ellie May is doing well. She has been microchipped and vacinated. She had a dental 4 weeks ago in which they removed 4 teeth but she recovered quickly. Today she has gone to be spayed so she probably won't be friends with us tonight.

She also has her passport now so if we venture abroad again next year she will be able to go with us as Jake does.

Don't think Jake will ever get used to not being the only dog anymore but he tolerates his new companion and has succeeded in teaching her all the bad habits The good thing is Ellie has shown Jake what dog treats are for. He has never eaten them as he had only ever eaten chicken livers until we rescued him and it took a long time just to get him to eat anything but now he sees Ellie with things he wants to try them, difficult with only his one tooth but he tries bless him

That's great Angela, and amazing the timing of my request!  It sounds as though you are all getting along just fine and quite normally. Regarding the neutering op., I dropped our BC off when she had hers a few months back and OH collected her in the evening. Needless to say, I got quite a few dirty looks and turned-away heads, but she was soon in love with me again.

Ellie has got over her op fine. Then today we had a problem with Jake and he ended up at the vets all day having an abcess drained (from his bum poor soul).

Ellie pined all day and wouldn't eat. She was so happy when we collected Jake, kissing him and licking him - I think she is in love

aaargh bless, hope he is ok now - does he need an inflatable cushion to sit on?

He has a cushion on his mums lap - he isn't really spoilt

Hi Lorna, thanks for asking

We had a restless night but he seems a bit better this morning and has just eaten for the first time since saturday. Hardest part is getting tablets down him - they look like horse tablets and he only has a little mouth. 

He still afraid to go the toilet but I'm not suprised after what they had to do. The abcess was in his glands and they had to syringe them out and then pack with antiseptic -

I know the feeling, I get caught every time.  I wish I had money like the playwright Carla Lane and could rescue many more unloved animals.

Pleased to say 6 months on it is like Ellie has always been part of the family. They have been out in the snow this morning and love it.
