Brilliant, Tam.  I might try it next year if my ski slope doesn't work!

Here is the live version of my frame...

post are sunk into these pipes which are 3 feet long...

And with the angle of the canes it makes it easier to make a barrier until they are establised from the wind...

Agreed!  Does that stay there every year Aidy?  Looks similar to something one of the guys on my site has constructed as a permanent bean frame.

Yep, the canes come out of course at the end of the season, I have used 15mm pipe clips so they pop in and out easy. The area to the right (1st piccy)is to be re-done in the winter, I have some paving slabs to form a path and need to dig/ clear the soft fruit area as couch has crept in.

Hi folks just finished my runner bean construction made from steel box section and angle iron, plus 3 layers of sheep netting up each side, specs are 3 feet wide  ,7 feet tall and 24 feet long there aint nothing like it on any other plots where I am, got fed up of hunting for bean sticks in local woodland should last for 10 years I reckon.

Oh my   Looking at all your strong, stable constructions...  I am begining to doubt if my poor attempt at Muntys frame will stand up to the job!   I have always had excellent success with my upside-down V, but it is good to try new things sometimes   So this year I am trying Muntys... First attempt, being a bit simple, I erected it the wrong way round (away from the sun!!!)  So I had to re-assemble it the right way...  I just HOPE that this year I will get SOME runner beans ::)

Steel box construction and angle irons

I'm amazed by how sturdy these structures are for Runner Beans! Do you need planning permission for them? I just shove five tall bamboo canes in the ground, a large plantpot in the middle for deep watering and tie the canes in an X about two thirds up so the top pods hang outwards for easy picking.

Moves around with my crop rotation.

Well, I was really pleased with mine! I have no permanent space available so it has to be a type of regular bean frame for me, and I am really pleased with my simple but effective bean canes.

Plus I have to look at mine all day! So I don't have a heavy duty construction either.
