Mushrooms on my peat pots!!
« on: May 23, 2010, 18:04 »
What the bloomin 'eck are these mushroom thingies on the peat pots that my sweetcorn is growing in - should I be worried? Can I just remove them and all will be well with the world? or do I need to pot some more up?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggghhh - things were going so well too!

Just rub them off for now and ease up on the watering which is the reason you have them. Corn appreciates a bit of water just not that much. If the mushrooms keep coming, space them out further in the sun to dry out. If they keep coming, make a spray of 1 litre water to 1 tbsp baking soda and spray the pots.

.........and you will be amazed at how quickly they rise!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Ahh, but this is to clean the pots, not kill pests.  :tongue2:
(And a  :tongue2: to DEFRA the EU or whoever.  ;) )
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".
