yep its bye bye. cremation is one option and probably the best bet unless you know sombody with ferrets and dont mind them having them, burying is not to good unless your going very deep as foxes soon smell them and dig them up. and i am not sure of the legal state if its more than a couple of birds.
good luck

Cremation is best but would i  be totally wrong in thinking you can dispose of chickens in normal houshold waste bins? Best make sure you put in correct bin if you have numerous recycling bins ? ! lol.

You may well roll on the floor laughing Alan.  Aunty would never "retire" a hen just because she had reached the menopause.

Well depends on your out look I suppose, most commercial egg layers are killed at 72 weeks, lot longer than meat birds 16 weeks?.

If your hens are pets then keep them, but if not then neck 'em when they stop laying. That's life as they say.

You could slow cook 'em, that might tender them up

My first lot yes I did, these I'm not sure as I know someone who says they might have them, but if not then I'll brace myself and do the deed.

We have a carry no passengers policy if they lay then their OK, reasonable time off for moulting is in the contract

I know that Alan, but I couldn't resist pulling your leg     What am I like

PS My dear little Gerty is burried 2 ft down with a big concrete  slab on top.  That'll stop her getting out...   I mean stop the foxes digging her up!
