Last night I was trying to use a bulb planter to bore out holes to plant my paper pots in. The ground is so dry it kept filling the holes in. It was like trying to do it in dry sand!

I ended up having to water where I wanted the hole and let it soak then drill it out. It is now looking like it might rain sometime soon. Of course we will be complaining about all the new weeds popping up then.

we havent had rain for two months.then last night it  started it hasnt stopped since then weve had about 2 inches up to now wonderfull never thought i would say that but things were getting bad farmers were starting to talk about culling cattle early to save on food as we had such a cold spell early on they had to feed the cattle longer than usual instead of putting them out . and so the grass hasnt grown like normal so the rain will please a lot of people but not all but i for one is glad of it.now the crops can grow normally as i dont normally water anything out side apart from transplants but ive had to water quite a lot this year.
We were waiting across the channel for that rain which never came!!

It's going the wrong way, that's why!

Seems as though it's drifting towards us.

Please!

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

It is a very good site. it says we have 20% chance of rain in our postcode area. Thats a lot of probability!  :)

We have had just the odd spit and spot for goodness knows how many weeks. I've never seen cracks so big in my soil - I swear that I can see right down to Australia!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Its such a novelty for us up here in Scotland.

I had the same problem as Bigben yesterday trying to plant out seedlings and the soil just kept falling back in the hole.

No doubt we will be back to our beloved grey skies and cagouls soon enough  :D

What if the Hokey Cokey IS what its all about...
