i have some store bought potatoes (rooster) and have a few that are starting to chit am i safet to plant them i love the taste/texture or would they be best sent to the compost heap im a little woried about infecting the ground im new to this allotment lark and i have never growen spuds before

you should only grow proper seed potatoes, not shop bought ones for eating.

They will grow, but do you really want to run the risk of infecting your whole plot for the sake of £3.

It really isn't worth it.
