I'm growing parsnips and carrots in a massive, deep container (a bit like a paddling pool!)  They were all popping up nicely, then I went out one day and they'd almost all been eaten... I found one mini slug actually in the act of chewing off a carrot, not sure if he was to blame for the whole lot! 

Whatever it was only got three quarters of the way across the bed, so there's still some patches of little parsnip and carrot seedlings.  I need to thin the parsnips out at some point... is there any chance they'd survive being relocated to the now empty end of the bed, or should I just cut my losses, thin them out, and sow something else in the rest of the bed (I think it's too late to start sowing more parsnips now?)  I'm not so fussed about the carrots as I was growing them in succession anyhow.

Either way it doesn`t do the plants any good.

Haha... that's what comes from eating spag bol on my lap at the same time as typing :-) 

Though the slug I found seemed pretty happy to me....

May is fine to sow more parsnips.

I think your use of ravished just about sums it up - the snails all ganged up this week & had an overnight rave in my back-garden 4-tier greenhouse. My tomatoes which were going great guns suddenly look like some of the students that live in my street after they've been on one of their 48 hour benders - droopy, tired, pale and somewhat ragged around the edges (not including those that are now just stalks)
