blue tomatoes
« on: May 15, 2010, 23:07 »
The plants! Not the fruit!!
Some of my Tumbling Tom plants were out too early (I admit it yer Honour.....) and turned blue. They seem to be dormant rather than dead and all have flowers on. I wondered if they will return to a more healthy green colour with this warmer weather??

Bring them inside the house or heated greenhouse and they'll eventually thaw out. They're a tropical plant and really can't take this cold except for the Siberian types like Black Krim, etc.

I used to grow them in hanging baskets out on the patio, but I used to wrap them with polythene sheet over night to keep the cold wind off them. They used to do OK.
